Common questions
How do I keep my ledger safe?
Settings › Backup & restore › Back up now, then save the file to Google Drive or somewhere you can reach from a new phone. The backup is a file you own. Do it regularly: a lost phone with no backup means a lost ledger.
I have a new phone. How do I move my ledger?
Install Bakiyo, open Settings › Backup & restore › Restore from a file, and pick your backup. Restoring replaces whatever is in the app, so do it before you add new entries on the new phone.
I forgot my app-lock PIN.
On the lock screen tap Forgot PIN? and unlock with your phone's own screen lock. App lock switches off, and you can set a new PIN in Settings. If your phone has no screen lock, the only way back in is to reinstall the app and restore your last backup.
Does Bakiyo work without internet?
Yes. Entries, balances, statements and backups all work with no connection at all. There is no sync and no account.
How do payment reminders work?
Open a customer who owes you and tap Send payment reminder. Bakiyo writes the message and opens WhatsApp, or the share sheet if WhatsApp isn't installed. Add your UPI ID in Settings › Business profile and the message carries a payment link, while your statement PDF carries a QR code. The customer pays you directly; Bakiyo never handles the money.
Is my backup file encrypted?
No. Anyone who opens the file can read the names, numbers and amounts inside, so keep it somewhere private.
